What kind of student might prefer History?

  • Students genuinely interested in the history subject and interested in enhancing their knowledge.
  • Students willing to devote time to a demanding subject such as history.
  • Students with good written and oral communication skills.
  • Students with good research skills.

Different sectors of the industry employ history graduates. Several history graduates opt for a career in research, wherein they are required to analyze and evaluate documentary evidence. History graduates can also work with government agencies as well as departments, not-for-profit organizations and associations. History graduates can work as policy analysts, local historians, evaluates and planners.

In addition, with special training history graduates can become cultural historic  preservation and resources manager. The different careers options available for history graduates is Information Officer, Records Manager, Archivist, Genealogist, Gallery or Museum Curator and Librarian.

The history graduates mostly posses high intellect level and excellent critical analysis abilities. As a result, these abilities are often useful for marketing, PR, advertising and communication jobs. The other careers include newspaper and broadcast journalists. Public sectors absorb history graduates at administrative and management roles.

In the administrative role history graduates are required to organize service delivery, engage in report writing, coordinate as well as service committees and draft procedures as well as policies.
