Sálim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), Coimbatore (Tamil Nadu) requires a Junior Research Fellow for a project on “Understanding Dispersal patterns in the monomorphic edible-nest swiftlet of Andaman Islands using biotechnological tools”
Name of the position: Junior Research Fellow; Age: 28 years as on the stipulated last date for receiving applications; Duration: 3 years; Fellowship: As per DBT norms for the NET/ GATE qualified candidates or as per SACON rules; Qualification: M.Sc in Zoology / Wildlife Biology / Life Sciences/ Environmental Sciences /Ecology / any other discipline related to the subject.
Since the field work is going to be in the caves of the remote locations, it is necessary that the candidate, with dedication to work in the field for long hours, should be physically fit and have an experience of rock climbing. As the project also has the laboratory component, the candidate should be ready to learn and work in biotechnology laboratory also.

Eligibility and experience required
- Name of the Position: Junior Research Fellows (3 Nos); Age: below 28 years on the stipulated last date for receiving applications; Duration: 18 months; Fellowship: 16,000+HRA (as per SACON rules); Qualification and Experience: M.Sc., in Wildlife/Zoology/Ecology/Life Sciences and skills in ecological research preferably on mammals and birds.
- Name of the Position: Senior Research Fellow (1 No); Age: below 32 years on the stipulated last date for receiving applications; Duration: 18 months; Fellowship: 18,000+HRA (as per SACON rules); Qualification and Experience: M.Sc., in Wildlife/Zoology/Ecology/Life Sciences and skills in ecological research preferably on birds and mammals.
